Low water pressure

• You need to make sure your boiler is filled to between 1 – 2 bar

If your boiler is showing zero on the display you need to fill your boiler via a fliing loop. This is located under the boiler via a filling loop with a black lever.

Once you fill the boiler to the right pressure you then need to turn the black lever back to the off position. If you put too much water in you can drain some of it via the drain off which is normally at the bottom of a radiator and looks like this.

If your boiler keeps losing pressure it can be due to a leak in the central heating system. This needs to fixed otherwwise yiur boiler will keep needing to be topped up on a daily basis.

If when your central heating is on and you notice the pressure gauge goes above 3 bar this is normally because the expansion vessel has failed and will need replacing and that is when you need to call us out.

Insufficient gas supply

If you have a gas card it could have easily run out of credit so make sure it’s topped up and an easy way to check if the gas supply is woring in the house is to check your gas hob. If you have an electric hob then you will need to go to your gas meter and make sure you have sufficient credit.

Error codes

A lot of the modern combi boilers come with an error code which will come up on the display. I have uploaded a lot of the errors on Baxi, Worcester and Vaillant on the website

You can also type the error code into google and there will be plenty of tips and explanations as to what can be wrong with your boiler.

Thermostats

A lot of the thermostats these days are wireless so if your hot water is working fine and your heating isn’t the first thing you need to check is has it lost connection or do the bathheries need replacing

Radiators

If your radiators are not working as they should be, it could be to do with either the central heating pump not working as it should or you have sludge in the system. Most manufacturers insist on fitting a magnetic filter to make sure you get the correct warrantee so the boiler is still under guarantee. You will aso need to make sure your boiler is serviced every year by a gas safe engineer.
