Underfloor Heating Liverpool project

The floor is insulated before we clip the pipework to the insulation. This is so the heating radiates upwards instead of downwards. You can get all different sizes of Kingspan but it all depends on budget and how high you want the floor to be raised. The more insualated your underfloor heating system is the more economic it will be to run and basically less money on energy bills which can only be a good thing for your pocket as well as the environment.

We worked out the square metre of the floor which was 25 metres sq, ordered 200 metres of 16 mm pipe. Isaac and Ben then laid the pipe from the manifold in a loop series 200 mm between pipe centres. As we got closer to the wall we had someexcess pipe so the spaces in between are a bit shorter but that was only because I didn’t want any pipe wasted.

I then attach everything the the manifold which as a seperate thermosat, two port valve and wireless thermostat so the underfloor heating can be operated seperatelyto the rest of the house.

The system is then filled and tested for any leaks and that all the controls work properly for the underfloor heating system. Once we know the Ufh system is working properly and there are no leaks it’s time to get the floor screeded. It’s imortant that when first installing the underfloor heating system that it’s not left on for too long so that it doesn’t crack the screed. We normally leave it around 2 weeks before using the Ufh and then gradually build it for being on for an hour to then a couple of hours and so on.
